COLLEGE GRADS: Writing Essay on Tuition, I Need Advice to Add to My Supporting Details.?

Asked by SML7
I am writing an essay for my English class on the rising cost of College Tuition. These are the things I need help with: 1. Ideas for how to solve the problem, how it has been solved in the past, or how to deal with the problem. 2. These are some things I have already, so I need to know if they would work, if they have already been thought of, or if they make any sense: -This is not so much of an idea, as it is a real question. Where does the tuition money go at a state funded college/university? Why would a school decline acceptance to kids with great qualifications and are better off financially, if they can help add to the amount of financial aid a college can offer? -Is there a program that allows students of a major to work with a company that involves that major, as a paid intern, but the pay goes to their tuition? And after college, some students are offered a job that can help pay off debt faster? Thank you for your help! I am looking foward to your answers.

You might find this article to be useful. www.insidehighered.com/news/2008/05/01/spending\ Co-Ops and Internships exist. are ways that you can get money to pay for college while not actually paying for it. A Co-op for the most part is treated as a real job, you gain credits towards your degree while you work and your salary would be paid by an outside company that has interests in the field of your study. You alternate between class and work on a bi-weekly, monthly, or every 6 months in most cases, and the pay can range from decent to good depending on what you do. Now since you are getting real world experience in your field while still in school, the money you make usually goes right towards your tuition. An Internship on the other hand is more of a part-time thing that you do a few days per week. The hours are usually shorter then in a Co-op, and the pay for the most part is not as good. Internships usually run concurrent with classes so they tend to not be as demanding or structured. Using the same pay model though, most will dictate that a majority of your pay goes right towards tuition. While this alone will not get you through college for free, coupled with a grant or scholarship it can definitely help. www.jobprofiles.org/library/students/college-for-free.htm
