A "certificate of completion" is not the same thing as a degree. The certificate just verifies that you took these courses; the degree confirms that you took the courses necessary for the major. Neither of these make you an accountant, though: you would still need to pass the exam set by your state to become a Certified Public Accountant. (Just as finishing medical school doesn't make you a doctor; you need to pass the medical board exam.) The certificate or the degree alone might qualify you to be a bookkeeper.
