how much should I give my daughter a month to cover food and living expenses at Sheridan College Oakville?

Asked by theresa m
I will be paying for her rent and her utilities but I am mostly interested in food and basics such as shampoo, soap etc.

The figures that OSAP uses to calculate living costs for a single student living away from home are: Food 214/month (using StatsCan figures from Agriculture Canada's Nutritious Food Basket) Miscellaneous (personal and health care, clothing, household cleaning and communication) 231/month for a total of $ 445 per month. Doesn't Sheridan have a "food card"? i.e. a semesterly meal program that allows parents to buy a semester's worth of (either) 3 meals a day or 2 meals at any of the cafeterias on campus? I seem to recall that my parents subscribed to something like that for my sister.
