Phoenix University (and schools of the same category) vs. Community College + USC?

Asked by dreamgurl
i plan to take up accounting. getting into phoenix university (or other schools of the same category - those who offer online courses) could save me time. but is it really worth it? or should i rather take the regular community college classes then transfer to a good university to finish my degree?

You'll get a good education from all of those sources. So consider the ancillaries: COST: U of P = EXPENSIVE! State university = costly. Community college = moderate. ONLINE: all of the above will offer online courses. U of P, unbeknownst to most of us, also has physical locations with face-to-face classes. Many schools will offer accounting degrees 100% online. REPUTATION: a survey of hiring officers, reported in last summer's "Communication Education", revealed that a degree earned entirely or mostly online would be downgraded. A diploma from U of P would be recognized as probably online and would be treated unfairly. A diploma from a state university--accompanied by transcripts from two years of community college--would not be instantly identified as online. ACCESSIBILITY. Work with U of P or the Community College and you'll find it's relatively easier to contact your instructor or other college resources. Universities--well, as John Ciardi said, they've quit caring about their students.
