I have my bachelor's degree, but I decided to take night accounting courses while working over the past few years. I just moved to California from NY and I was told I could take courses at a school out here but now that I am out here, they are saying I cannot (no room in 2 of the 4 courses I wanted to take). I need one of them, so I want to take it online at University of Phoenix. How does it work? And since it's not for a degree and only to fulfill CPA exam credit requirements, I would want to get credit for it. Oh...and the courses I am taking are just undergrad courses. I got my degree in International Relations and decided to shift gears after college. Oh well.

Yes, they are Regionally Accredited. Regardless of delivery method (on ground, online, hybrid), a higher ed institution in the US can have 3 institutional accreditation statuses. 1. Regionally accredited - the highest and most useful. 2. Nationally accredited - real, but not as recognized or useful. Yes it is less than regional accreditation, which isn't intuitive. 3. Unaccredited Be sure to check here before you enroll: www.chea.org/search/ They are too expensive compared to other options. Beware of unaccredited schools such as Almeda, Kennedy Western, Warren National University, Rochville University, Trinity Southern (issued a degree to a cat!)
