I know a PHD from university of phoenix is not prestigous but would it be good enough to teach at a state university level?

Probably not. There is a pretty strong bias against for-profit schools at the more traditional not-for-profit colleges and universities. University of Phoenix just isn't very highly thought of there. Like Roaring Mice said, a tenure-track faculty job at a state university is still pretty tough to get--there are plenty of un- and under-employed academics with doctorates from more respected schools who dream of being so lucky as to land one. You might be able to get hired as an adjunct, but even that's iffy--it would depend somewhat on your field of study and your experience. Ditto for teaching at a community college. If you really want a faculty career, choose another doctoral program.
